I’m going to show my ignorance when I say, I didn’t realize how vast and big the battlefields were. Of course, it’s been a long time–8th grade since I learned about the battle, but still…I don’t think we saw everything on Saturday. It’s very sobering standing there reading the plaques and humbling. All of those men lost their lives on the grounds of which we were standing. Walking down the main street and going into the souvenier places that were once homes was a little on the freaky side as well. They have a haunted tour and if we hadn’t been so tired, we were going to go on it. Although, I’m not sure my nine-year-old was up to that. ( Balto came home safely to him last night, so all is right with his world again.)
I also didn’t realize how many pictures I took! So, I’m going to highlight some of them.

The boys with a canon. This was near Battery B (-) 1st Battalion, 108th Field Battalion, Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Portrayers near the North Carolina Memorial. They gave us facts and showed us artillery.

J holding a shell casing the portrayer’s fashioned. This was what went into the rifles/ canon’s.

Virgina Memorial: General Robert E. Lee mounted on Traveler. The group represents various types who left civil occupations to join the Confederate Army.

The tower that did my calves in. They’re still hurting, by the way….J and I walked all the way to the top and looked out and over Gettysburg. I wanted a picture of Mark standing on the stairs almost half-way up, but the batteries in my camera died. He made it to the top of the second landing and said no more, he’d wait there. *vbg*
A couple more pictures tomorrow…hope you enjoy!
